Applications are now open for the Service Accelerator, a programme of free expert support aimed at developing new services and improving existing ones in tourism, activating existing resources throughout the year, extending the tourist season, and increasing revenues by attracting new market segments.
Selected companies will receive tailored mentoring, practical tools, and visibility at the European level.
The Service Accelerator is a structured programme developed within the GreenSET project, designed to systematically support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in developing innovative, sustainable and market-relevant tourism services.
The programme is based on the practical MEDSSIM methodology – MED Sustainable Service Innovation Methodology – which helps companies to:
use resources more efficiently and reduce operational costs,
create new revenue streams through the development of sustainable and circular tourism services,
respond to new needs and expectations of tourists,
become more environmentally friendly,
strengthen innovation capacity and long-term competitiveness.
The methodology guides companies through the following key phases:
internal analysis and ecosystem mapping,
identification of opportunities and idea generation,
service development and validation,
design of a sustainable business model,
implementation and continuous improvement.
The Service Accelerator is intended for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that:
are registered in Montenegro and, in line with the EU definition of SMEs, have:
fewer than 250 employees,
annual turnover ≤ EUR 50 million or total balance sheet < EUR 43 million;
already operate in the tourism sector, or come from non-tourism sectors but wish to develop a service with potential application in tourism.
Here are some examples of companies not currently operating in tourism, but still eligible to apply:
ICT companies developing digital tools for travelers (apps, self-guided tours, etc.),
Manufacturing companies offering sustainable visitor-oriented products (eco travel equipment, recreational products, etc.),
Creative companies designing innovative tourism experiences or aiming to develop new service concepts.
Selected companies will receive:
individual business consulting for the development of new or improved services,
mentoring support,
practical knowledge and tools for developing innovative and sustainable solutions,
increased visibility at the European level.
At the end of the programme, each company will have a new service concept, tailored to its specific needs, expectations, and level of maturity, developed and finalized with expert support.
Participation in the programme represents indirect state aid in the form of advisory and expert services, in accordance with applicable EU rules (details are provided in the Terms of Participation).
Participants are expected to:
take part in workshops and mentoring sessions,
share relevant business information required for the development of new or improved services,
ensure the participation of at least two representatives from the company,
consent to the public disclosure of participation in the programme and its results in project materials (e.g. case studies, best practice catalogues),
be available for communication and promotional activities of the project,
appoint a contact person within the organisation responsible for coordination with mentors.
Participation lasts two months and amounts to approximately 8 working days in total, which is essential for the successful completion of planned activities.
The schedule will be organised in line with participants’ availability, ensuring flexibility to successfully complete the pilot programme.
If additional support is needed for the implementation and integration of new services, additional expert meetings (approximately two days) may be organised by mutual agreement.
When selecting programme participants, priority will be given to companies that demonstrate:
clear motivation and commitment to participating in the programme and developing new or improved services,
sufficient capacity and resources for active participation in planned activities,
openness to innovation and cooperation, including willingness to test new approaches and solutions.
The selection of participants will be based on submitted applications, in line with programme objectives and available pilot activity capacities.
