October 2025 – The GreenSET project has successfully completed its first six-month period (May–September 2025), marking a significant milestone in advancing circular transformation within Mediterranean tourism. During this initial phase, all partners worked closely together to lay the foundations for the project’s long-term impact.
Throughout the semester, the GreenSET consortium finalized its communication strategy, launched the official project website and LinkedIn page, and completed its first dissemination activities. These platforms now serve as central hubs for sharing updates, engaging stakeholders, and showcasing progress across the Mediterranean region.
A major highlight of this period was the publication of GreenSET’s first article, “Service Innovation in Tourism: A Crucial but Overlooked Driver of Sustainability”, co-authored by the Nicosia Tourism Board and STEP RI. The article introduces MEDSSIM, a framework designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) integrate circularity and sustainability into their services and business models.
In parallel, partners advanced work on Deliverable 1.1: MED Sustainable Service Innovation Methodology (MEDSSIM) and began assessing the carbon footprint under Activity A3.4, thereby establishing a measurable baseline for reducing environmental impact and aligning with EU climate goals.
This six-month period also marked GreenSET’s first major dissemination milestone, as the project’s reach expanded through digital media, newsletters, and partner activities such as workshops and regional collaborations. Each partner—representing nine Mediterranean countries—contributed expertise in sustainability, innovation, and tourism to ensure an integrated, transnational approach.
As GreenSET prepares to enter its second phase (October 2025–March 2026), the focus will shift toward further refining methodologies, scaling up results, and deepening cooperation among partners. The upcoming partner meeting in Nice (4–6 November 2025) will serve as a platform to review achievements, plan next steps, and strengthen the project’s shared mission:
Leading the circular transformation of Mediterranean tourism.
